Ducati joins in motorcycle endurance series

As Ducati North America rolls out the new Multistrada 1200, the Boulder-based Motomarathon Association will put the new king of sport-touring muscle through its paces during the Southern California Motomarathon, taking place in March.

Kicking off the second season of the national motorcycle endurance series, the four-day ride loops out of Temecula, with routes kept secret until the night before each ride.

The group of enthusiasts who have taken their own particular fascination with riding to an organized sport have planned routes with as many twisties as possible, over four full days.

Motormarathon organizers along with rumored celebrity Ducatisti, will wrangle the current stable of Ducati test bikes including the Hypermotard and Streetfighter through the So Cal hills on routes ranging from Tecate to Big Bear.

The ride is planned for March 26th to 29th.

70“After being locked in Rocky Mountain winter, we’re ready to get down on the twisties of San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties,” said Metzger. “Routemaster Tom Roach of Palm Springs Harley-Davidson led us through these incredible routes during our December recon ride, averaging 300 mile days over the most technical – and hard to navigate – pavement in sunny California.”

The Motomarathon Association runs its annual series of four-day rides over the best roads and through the best scenery in the country, with two events scheduled in Colorado this season. Each rider’s route completion is verified at day’s end through self-recorded checkpoints using digital or cell phone cameras.

The format has struck a nerve with today's sport-touring riders as well as with the Motomarathon sponsors; Ducati North America, Aerostich and Wolfman, a well known name in luggage.

“The new Ducati Multistrada 1200 is a perfect fit for these events,” said Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America. “We’re proud to support the Motomarathon, and we’re very excited to work with the promoters to elevate the highest form of sport-touring."
