Motorcycle shaped cake revs up wedding of Go Daddy CEO

The motorcycle good enough to eat was first reported in July 2009 by Clutch and Chrome when celebrity baker, Duff Goldman, star of Food Networks Ace of Cakes discussed a life size cake in the shape of a Ducati sportsbike during his walk down the red carpet at the premiere of the last Harry Potter movie.

As outrageous as a life-size Ducati cake may sound, it should come as no surprise it was baked for the wedding of Go Daddy CEO, Bob Parsons. Parsons runs the internet domain registration company famous for its suggestive and over the top Superbowl commercials.

While the weekly show, Ace of Cakes follows the challenges of the staff of Charm City Cakes as they bake and create exotic, custom designed cakes, the two-wheeled order surely tested the talented bakers.

Although the wedding cake for Parsons and his bride Renee LaBelle was a 10-tier creation decorated with family photos, the groom's cake celebrated his enthusiasm for motorcycles. The size of a real motorcycle, the cake came with working ignition, lights, exhaust and a cake helmet.

The brand of the motorcycle cake followed Parson's passions and was shaped like a Ducati. Not surprisingly, the Go Daddy CEO recently opening Ducati and Honda dealerships in Scottsdale, Arizona.

During the interview given by Duff Goldman in July, he described the features of the cake.

"We actually just got an order for a life size Ducati motorcycle that has a keyed ignition so when you turn the key on the headlight comes on and the brake light comes on," he said as he motioned with his hands to the front and back of an imaginary bike.

"It will make the revving sound," Chef Duff continued, "and its going to spit dry ice smoke out of the exhaust."

Underneath the working motorcycle cake wasn't a powerhouse of Italian engineering, but a reportedly delicious yellow layer cake.

The wedding took place Saturday at Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia.
