Motorcycle enthusiasts come together to help Haiti
Motorcycle enthusiasts are known for their generosity. Toy Runs and rides to raise money for deserving charities fill the two-wheeled calendar as well as streets and highways across the country.
And big-hearted bikers are responding to the tragedy in Haiti the best way they know how, by reaching into their wallets.
From custom paint jobs to cleaning motorcycles, the riding community has come together in some creative ways.
In Glendale, California the local Ducati dealership, Pro Italia will hold a bike wash every weekend over the next month to raise money for the Maison Fortune Orphanage Foundation.
They will be washing bikes for a suggested donation $35, with some famous faces pitching in.
Reportedly, Ducati executives will be flying in to help wash bikes as well as PI owner Bill Nation and others. Hope they understand Pro Italia is promising to take a good forty-five minutes on each motorcycle.
In addition to the bike wash, Pro Italia is promising to donate $5 to this worthy charity every time a Pro Italia T-shirt is bought, and $10 for every Pro Italia sweatshirt, or jacket is purchased.
This weekend, Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda riders Wil Hahn #49 and Cole Seely #200 will be racing in one-of-a-kind Haitian flag-themed helmets and gear at AMA Supercross round 4 in San Francisco.
The items will then be signed by the riders and Troy Lee to be auction on eBay with 100% of the funds from the winning sale will go to American Red Cross for Haiti Relief.
"My heart goes out to the people in Haiti," says Troy Lee. "After seeing the images on TV, the losses and challenges they are going through... I just wanted to give back in some small way, and remind Supercross fans to help those who are in great need."
