Motorcycles starring in summer blockbusters

They won't make top bill on the posters and will certainly be left off the acting credits but motorcycles are first and foremost taking starring roles in movies this summer.

And bikers should look for some big names to sit the saddle of everyone's favorite two-wheeled past time.

No stranger to motorcycles herself, Angelina Jolie was snapped filming a motorcycle chase scene for her upcoming movie 'Salt', a spy thriller where she plays Evelyn A. Salt, a rogue CIA agent who tries to clear her name after being accused of being a Russian sleeper spy.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 23rd  as Jolie is expands her on-screen rides, adding what appears to be a Triumph Speed Triple in the latest movie to the list of Yamaha TRX80 and a CCM 604, both featured in Tomb Raider films. In the real life, not only has the world's sexiest women reportedly bought husband Brad a nice selection of motorcycles, she has also been caught on camera joining him on the road with her own BMW bike.

35bThe movie 'Salt' also stars Liev Schreiber who has in own motorcycle connections. On Schreiber's 16th birthday, his mother bought him a motorcycle, "to promote fearlessness".

Last seen as the son of famed archeoligist Indiana Jones, Shia Laboeuf sits in the saddle for his latest blockbuster, Wall Street: Money never sleeps' being released on September 24th.

The young Hollywood heartthrob caused a sensation during filming as he weaved his way through movie-made traffic in the streets of New York City shooting scenes that now feature promenently in the early trailers.

More important to motorcycle enthusiasts than the young actor, sharing the screen with LeBeouf in the sequel to the 80's classic is a black Ducati Streetfighter.

One of the original stars of 'Wall Street' Michael Douglas, will reprise his role of Gordon Gecko for the sequel.

"It’s 22 years later," explains Douglas, "Gordon has done about eight years in jail and got out in about 2001. The picture predominantly focuses on these last couple of years on Wall Street, which nobody anticipated."

34a"We shot the first one in 1986 and it was a wild, wild colorful time," remembers the 'greed is good' actor, "And here we have both a train crash and a larger-than-life period leading up to that train crash. It’s an exciting time to make a picture about Wall Street!"

This isn't Shia LeBeouf's first time on a motorcycle in a movie. The young actor enjoyed the retro look of a Harley-Davidson Softail Springer Classic in the last edition of Indiana Jones.

Appearing with Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf rode a 2007 Harley-Davidson Softail Springer Classic customized to reflect the movie’s 1957 period setting. The bike’s starring role came during one of the film’s signature action-packed chase scenes, and features Shia LaBeouf tearing through a college campus with Harrison Ford along for the ride as a passenger.

Ironically, it LeBeouf who appeared as a passenger on a Pink Ducati with Megan Fox in last summer's 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'.
