Sturgis Motorcycle Museum looking for nominations for 2011 inductees
The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame is looking to the riding community for nominations for the 2010 Hall of Fame.
The museum that honors the men and women who have dedicated much of their lives to improving, promoting and advancing our great sport and lifestyle wants nominations of Individuals, organizations and businesses to be considered for induction.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame collects, preserves, and interprets the history of motorcycling, honoring those who have made a positive and significant impact on the sport and lifestyle as well as paying tribute to the heritage of the Sturgis Rally.
Nomination forms must be accompanied by credentials which explain why this individual should be considered for induction, understanding while their achievements may be outstanding, may be not everyone knows about them. Officials at the museum note a comprehensive overview of their accomplishments is necessary to make an informed and educated decision. Biographical info, newspaper articles, historical documents, etc. may be submitted but credentials should be no longer than five pages long, including nomination form.
Nominations must be received by the Museum no later than January 11, 2010. Individuals chosen for induction into the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame will be honored at the annual induction breakfast ceremony on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Located on the corner of Main Street & Junction Avenue in downtown Sturgis, South Dakota, recent inductees into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Famen include J.C. "Pappy” Hoel - owner of the Rapid City Harley-Davidson dealership from 1941 until 1963, James Clark - founder of James Gaskets and known throughout the industry as the “Godfather” of gaskets as well as Cookie Crum who not only encouraged countless other riders but has also assisted in the formation of a number of clubs and organizations.
